As I understand it, the state of Tennessee has a division called Child Support Services, which you are a part of. The name implies that your focus is to support children. It gives the connotation that it would be complete care of children, such as keeping them fed, healthy, and perhaps part of an intact family. The state has laws that seem to work toward this, such as when one parent abandons the other, the abandoned parent is still allowed access to their children, such as the specified phone calls and uncensored mail.

However, thus far it seems the only “Services” provided is to extract money from the abandoned parent, and even when the amount required changes, to provide no support in updating that.

It is clear that the $888 monthly amount is well beyond what the law requires, as it seems more likely $422. However, it also seems the only function of your department is to extract funds, even when excessive, not answer almost of year of direct inquiries, and clearly offer no “Support” for my children in the sense of allowing them access to their dad for almost 11 years. I know you must be proud of your work.

It seems now that best you can do is point to a third party. This sounds like a racket. Is it?

I have vaguely heard of the idea of a “case worker”, which implies an individual that would have a direct involvement in a case, such as this one. Does this person exist? Or is it only the mostly anonymous parties that I have been dealing with for the last year? If this person does exist, perhaps a direct dialog would be in order, or would that be too efficient?

If you sense in my tone a bit of frustration, you would be correct. You see what appears to be happening is related to a root cause of my wife abandoning of me. I have been part of more than one group that was collectively less than efficient which kept the group large. Pointing this out made me less than welcome in the group. Perhaps there might be someone who receives this email that might find the concept helpful, as there is more than a hint of applicability.

My guess is that the name “Child Support Services” is a marketing term, and support to my children is not applicable, but your institution clearly is vital. You suggest turning to a third party to make this yet a more complex project, which gets back to the collective issue described above. You will probably take my tone as an excuse for not working towards the benefit of my kids, but rather focus only on extracting funds and keeping your collective as large as possible. Is that right? Are there some expletives being uttered?

If on the other hand there is someone interested in benefiting my kids by allowing the remaining applicable children, Walter and Zadok, the ability to see the hundred plus postcards to them refused by my wife against the law, to be able to have a direct conversation with their dad, also refused by my wife against the law, for the first time in almost 7 years, it might be a good thing. However, since there are 7 years of voicemails, emails, and photos of returned mail online, it might cause more than a bit of an issue when my kids find out about this. This is a quandary, isn’t it? But be of good cheer, this dad is not giving up!
