Subject: I forgive you

John,

I'm commanded by Jesus to forgive those who have wronged me. I have been wronged by numbers of people, and I have wronged numbers of people. In doing wrong to another person, I have insulted and sinned against Jesus. Unless I forgive those who have wronged me, I have no right to ask Jesus to forgive me.

I don't think I have ever told you that I forgive you for harming me, I have forgiven you, and I continue to do so. If I hadn't forgiven you, I could not pray for you, but I do pray for you. I don't find any pleasure in the pain you are suffering. I would have found real pleasure in the joy and happiness you would have if you had been righteous in your commitment to Dorothy-Jane and me.

You made a promise to us that you would love and care for my daughter (and by inference, your children). When you failed to keep that promise, you blamed your failure on others. I forgive you for that as well. It's extremely difficult to accept responsibility for things we've done or not done that have hurt others.

I came to you twice with respect to that failure. The first time was when you met with me at Meadowview. The second time was when I showed up at your home with a moving truck. I want you to remember that I wrote a letter to you and put it in your hand. I no longer have a copy of that letter, but I do remember telling you that I would take responsibility for your family until you would choose to do so. I was very hopeful that my responsibility for your family would be short lived. But, as you know, I was wrong about that.

This letter is to express how deeply you hurt me and your family. But, it is also to convey that I'm not holding these failures against you. I believe you were deceived by our common enemy, the dominion of Satan. I know of times when I have been deceived by that same enemy, and I have had to go to others to ask for their forgiveness.

John, it appears that you are still being deceived. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to your sin against your family and me. However, whether or not He does that for you, my responsibility to Jesus is to truly forgive you, and I absolutely do forgive you. I hold nothing against you. Satan has been a deceiver since the earliest days of the human race.

I sincerely pray that you will consider my words and not just discard them. Turn to Jesus and ask Him to guide you into the truth. Only He can save you! Vengeance belongs to the Lord and only to Him. The day will come when He will destroy the devil and his associates. I so look forward to that day. Then there will be no more sorrow, discord, or suffering of any kind. Our enemy must be defeated in order for any of us to truly live free. In the meantime, I release you to the loving hand of my Lord and Savior - Jesus Christ.
