45 years ago today I flew from LAX to San Antonio, TX and started my 5 years in the USAF. It was an escape mechanism for a guy who graduated high school a year early and wanted to avoid college as I wanted to learn and it was clear then that the institution was not the correct route. However, while it was easy for me, the military is even more so not the correct route. I desire to engage my kids on this subject. I want to warn them that by far you are more likely to die of suicide then all other forms of death, including combat, while in the US military. It destroys people far more than ever before and I want to protect my kids.

However, I also want to point my kids to the Lord Jesus Christ who commands His followers to reconcile with each other. It remains my hope that one day you will drop the barrier from allowing that to happen.
