A video again. The quote from the mentioned email is below.

My Lady, Zadok, and my kids, you are all loved by me!

The comparison between Matthew and Genesis is below. The quote is the LSV, which is the YLT in modern English.

Mat 20:25 and Jesus having called them near, said, “You have known that the rulers (archōn) of the nations (ethnos) exercise lordship (katakurieuō) over them, and those [who are] great (megas) exercise authority over them,

Gen 1:26 And God says, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness, and let them rule over(archomai) [the] fish of the sea, and over [the] bird of the heavens, and over livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that is creeping on the earth.”

Gen 1:27 And God creates the man in His image; in the image of God He created him, a male and a female He created them.

Gen 1:28 And God blesses them, and God says to them, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it(katakurieuō), and rule over(archomai) [the] fish of the sea, and over [the] bird of the heavens, and over every living thing that is creeping on the earth.”

Rule over or archomai is simply the verb form of the noun rulers or archōn. Genesis has the command to rule while Matthew shows those who are ruling. However there is a command to rule over the fish of the sea and so forth, but not over man. Man, on his own authority, will rule over a group of people that he can control. This is typically a group of people bound by a common characteristic.

This is the norm seen throughout history and today. You divide people and then take leadership of a divided group as they turn to you to either protect them from other groups or provide to them benefits, often at the cost of the other groups. What is a group of people bound by a common characteristic? It is an ethnicity or ethnos.

Archomai has a broader meaning in that it is to rule over, but more so it is to be first, as seen with “in the beginning (archē). Being first can be in time, in authority, or in setting an example. katakurieuō is more specific in that it is to kata, which is “down” and therefore over, and kurieuō which is the verb form of kurios or lord.

But lord can become sticky as we have lord and the Lord. Clearly we have our Lord whom we are to sanctify or set apart in our hearts (1Peter3:15), but also there are those who lord over us. It should be clear that our ultimate authority is the Lord Jesus Christ. Any decree by an intermediate lord must be secondary to and consistent with the Lord’s commands.

So can we place an intermediary lord between us and the Lord? We can look at Deuteronomy 17:14-20 and say that does not apply as we see the KJV, ESV, NASB, YLT and LSV all use the word “king” not “lord” or “ruler”. Typically the word “basileus” is translated as “king”, however in Deuteronomy the word is “archōn”. So we can’t say it doesn’t apply since we don’t use the word “king”. It is anyone we set before us as our archōn or leader. I hope it is obvious that not one person in the Bible, any time in history, or the present day has met the Deuteronomy qualifications except Christ Himself.

That alone shows no right to place a leader or ruler over us, but go one step further. While we may think by joining a particular group or voting for a particular candidate, we have made a choice, the Lord states unambiguously that it is His choice alone in verse 15.

The bottom line is that in the past I voted and even ran for US Congress. I was wrong! I repented.

Today’s postcard was sent to Zadok.
