I was corrected by a brother today. Chris pointed out that my frequent statement “a clumsy man seeking obedience to Christ and having the things of this world” was rationalization on my part. My refrain is now updated to “a sinful man seeking obedience to Christ and having the things of this world”. The difference is significant. The Lord’s grace now shows all the more.

It is also growing clearer that one of the reasons I have to be silenced is that any acknowledgement that my desires for the things of this world by others might put their desires for the things of this world in front of them.

It is my hope that you too have lost most of the desires for the things of this world, which we shared, and now seek the joy of being a follower of Christ.
